Mouhamad Hady Toure is a renowned Quran reciter and scholar from Senegal, West Africa, widely admired for his spiritually uplifting and beautifully balanced recitations of the Holy Quran. Born into a literary and religious family, he grew up surrounded by a strong tradition of Islamic scholarship. His father, Cissa Touré, was a student at the seminary of Ndiarndé, while his maternal grandfather, Khali Madiakhaté Kala, was a respected scholar and poet in Senegalese Islamic history. Guided by his father, he memorized the Holy Quran at an early age in his hometown of Fass Touré in the Thies region of Senegal.

Seeking deeper knowledge, he later pursued his studies at the prestigious El Hadj Malick Sy Institute in Tivaouane, a center of excellence for Islamic education in Senegal. Gifted with a remarkable memory and sharp intellect, he excelled in various disciplines including Quranic exegesis (Tafsir), Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Arabic literature, mathematics, and astronomy. His devotion to the Quran led him to specialize in Qira’at (the different styles of Quranic recitation) and Tajweed, earning an Ijazah in the ten minor readings of the Quran.

In 1992, he made history as the first Senegalese to win an international Quran recitation competition in Saudi Arabia, a proud moment for his nation that established him as one of Africa’s most respected Quran reciters. He later continued his advanced studies, mastering the ten Qira’at according to Imam Ash-Shaatibiyyah’s method, one of the most authentic and respected traditions of Quranic recitation.

Currently, he serves as the Director of the Department of Education at an Islamic institute, where he continues to guide and mentor students in Quranic sciences. His teaching emphasizes precision, spirituality, and love for the divine message of the Quran.

His recitations are soft yet powerful, bringing peace to the heart and a sense of closeness to Allah.
