Mouhamad Hady Toure is a highly respected Quran reciter from Senegal, West Africa, known worldwide for his exceptional voice and deep knowledge of Quranic sciences. Born into a literary and religious family, his father Cissa Touré was a student at the prestigious seminary of Ndiarndé, and on his mother’s side, he is the grandson of Khali Madiakhaté Kala, a notable figure in Senegalese Islamic scholarship. He began his Quranic education under his father’s guidance in his hometown of Fass Touré, in the Thies region of Senegal. Later, he pursued further religious studies at the renowned El Hadj Malick Sy Institute in Tivaouane, a historic center for Islamic learning in Senegal. Gifted with a sharp intellect and an extraordinary memory, He excelled in a variety of disciplines including Quranic exegesis (Tafsir), Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Arabic literature, mathematics, and astronomy. His passion and dedication to the Quran led him to specialize in Quranic recitation and Tajweed. In 1992, he became the first Senegalese to win an international Quran recitation competition in Saudi Arabia, earning global recognition. He continued his advanced studies and eventually mastered the Ten Qira’at (readings) of the Quran, particularly following the Shaatibiyah method—a highly respected tradition of Quranic recitation. Today, He serves as the Director of the Department of Education at an Islamic institute, where he plays a vital role in training the next generation of Quran scholars and reciters.
