Surah Yaseen mp3 by Shirazad Taher

Shirazad Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Taher Bin Hassan Al-Kufi, known widely as Shirazad Taher, is a distinguished Kurdish Quran reciter born in Mosul, Iraq, in 1968. He is often referred to by his admired title “Badr Al-Qurra’” meaning the full moon of the reciters, a name that reflects his beautiful voice, unique delivery, and deep mastery of Qur’anic recitation. From childhood, he was affectionately called “Al-Minshawi Al-Saghir” due to the sweetness and warmth of his voice.

He memorized and studied the Qur’an under the supervision of his father, who was a school principal and a teacher of Arabic language and Quranic sciences. His father played an important role in shaping his foundational knowledge of Tajweed, correct pronunciation, and recitation rules. He continued advanced studies under renowned teachers such as Sheikh Saif Al-Din Bin Hadi and Sheikh Imad Al-Din Shams Al-Din, refining his command of recitation and Qirā’āt.

Alongside his Qur’anic expertise, he graduated in electronics and communications engineering from Mosul University in 1991. His academic discipline and technical fluency enhanced his precision, clarity, and methodical recitation style. He is also fluent in English and highly skilled with computer systems, which supports his teaching and international outreach.

He received multiple certifications in Qur’anic recitation, including his Ijazah in Hafs ‘an ‘Asim from the distinguished reciter Sheikh Abdul Latif Bin Khadar Al-Soufi. He was also certified in the Seven Readings (Al-Shatibiyyah) during a notable ceremony held at Al-Qadisiyah Mosque in 1988. In 1995, during his stay in Yemen, he earned further authorization in the complementary Three Readings, completing the chain of the Ten minor Qirā’āt, granted by Sheikh Abdul Razzaq Bin Muhammad Bin ‘Amara.

Throughout his career, he served as Imam in several countries, beginning in Al-Abrar Mosque in Mosul, and later continuing in Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. He eventually settled in Dubai, where he serves as the Imam of Mohammad Hassan Bin Al-Sheikh Mosque, a role in which he continues to lead prayers, teach advanced Qirā’āt, and guide students in the art of Qur’anic Tilawah.

In addition to Imamat, he is actively involved in Qur’anic education across the region. His efforts include teaching in Dubai’s Central Prison, helping numerous students and inmates gain proper knowledge of recitation, Tajweed, and spiritual understanding. He also regularly instructs in the Ten Qirā’āt at his mosque and has certified many reciters, becoming one of the first scholars to introduce and officially teach the three complementary readings of the Ten Qirā’āt in Mosul and other regions of Iraq.

He participated in several Qur’anic competitions as a judge and guest reciter and has appeared in radio programs focusing on recitation and Qirā’āt sciences. His recordings include complete recitations according to Hafs ‘an ‘Asim, performed during Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers, as well as selected recitations according to the Warsh ‘an Nafi’ method.

Shirazad Taher is recognized alongside well-known Qur’an reciters including Bassel Abdul Rahman Raoui, Raad Mohammad al Kurdi, Mustafa Raad AL Azawi, Abdur-Razaq bin Abtan Al-Dulaimi, Amer Al-Kazemi, Muhammad Siddiq AL-Minshawi, Mahmood Ali Al Banna, Sheikh Ahmed Al Saeed Mndur, and Ahmed Amir.
