Mishary Rashid Alafasy, is a world-renowned Quran reciter and Imam from Kuwait, born on September 5, 1976 (11th of Ramadan, 1396 AH). His full name is Mishary Rashid Ghareeb Mohammed Rashed Al-Afasy, and he is also affectionately known as Abu Nora. He showed a deep love for the Quran from a young age and memorized the entire Quran by the age of 18. He pursued advanced Quranic studies at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, specializing in the ten Qira’at (readings) and Quranic interpretation. He studied under well-known scholars such as Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat, Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei, and Sheikh Abdurarea Radwan.

Today, Mishary Alafasy is the Imam of the Grand Mosque (Masjid Al-Kabir) in Kuwait City, where he leads the Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan. His voice is known for its clarity, emotional depth, and perfect Tajweed, making him one of the most beloved reciters in the Muslim world. He is often mentioned alongside other respected imams and reciters such as Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Saad Al Ghamidi, Maher Al Mueaqly, Saud Al-Shuraim, Yasser Al-Dosari, Mansour Al Salimi and Mohamed AL Jabery AL Heyani, who are also known for their inspiring leadership and recitations.

Over the years, he has received numerous awards from organizations like the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League for his contributions to Islamic media.
