Ahmed Ibn Ali Ibn Mohammed Al-Sulaiman Al-Ajmy, widely known as Ahmed Al-Ajmi, is one of the most respected Quran reciters of the modern era. He was born on February 24, 1968 in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, where he completed his early education at Al-Mohammadiya Primary School, followed by Az-Zubair Ibn Al-Awam Middle School and Khobar High School. From a young age, he showed a strong devotion to the Holy Quran, along with a unique voice that later made him one of the world’s most influential Qur’an reciters.
After completing his foundational studies, he continued his academic journey at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, where he graduated with a degree in Sharia. He later traveled to Pakistan to pursue higher studies at Lahore University, earning his Master’s degree and then completing his Doctorate in Quranic Interpretation (Tafsir). His research focused on Quranic explanation methods, highlighting a deep understanding of interpretation principles and recitation sciences.
He began his Imamate in 1984 at Al-Mughira Ibn Shu’ba Mosque in Khobar. Just a year later, he served at the Great Mosque of Khobar, marking a significant moment in his recitation journey. In 1992, he was appointed Imam at Al-Amir Mohammed Bin Fahd Mosque. His emotional voice, powerful intonation, and flawless Tajweed made his recitations widely admired. Today, he continues to serve as an Imam at King Fahd Mosque in Jeddah, where his Qur’anic recitation draws large congregations and millions of online listeners.
Beyond his role as an Imam, he has released numerous Quran recordings and Islamic nasheed albums, including well-known productions such as Wada’anak and Anashid. His presence extended beyond mosque leadership, as he participated in conferences, Islamic programs, and radio and television broadcasts, addressing topics of faith, Islamic ethics, and Quranic sciences.
He is married and the father of six children: Abdullah, Omar, Moudi, Abdurrahman, Fatimah, and Maryam. He resides in Al-Khobar, continuing a life centered on Quranic recitation, teaching, and Islamic guidance.
His clear articulation, emotional depth, and spiritual influence have earned him a distinguished place among today’s leading Quran reciters. He stands alongside notable recitation voices such as Khalid AL Mohanna, Idrees Abkar, Abdul Wadood Haneef, Fouad Al Khamiri, Muhammad al-Mehysni, Mahmood Ali Al Banna, Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, Abdel Aziz Al Ahmed, and Abdullah Ali Jabir, all of whom contribute to preserving the beauty of Quranic recitation.
