Omar Al Kazabri born in 1974 in Marrakech, Morocco, is a well-known Qur’an reciter and Imam. With the support of his father, he memorized the entire Qur’an by the age of 11, showing a remarkable talent for recitation from a young age. After finishing high school, he traveled to Saudi Arabia in 1997 to study Islamic sciences (Fiqh) at the Islamic Institute of Makkah. During his studies, he also led prayers at Jeddah’s University Mosque. Later, he went to Egypt where he worked with Sheikh Ahmed Al Maassarawi on the famous project, “The Ten Recitations Achievement”.
Upon returning to Morocco, he began leading prayers at Oulfa Mosque in Casablanca, where his soulful recitation quickly gained him popularity. Soon after, he was appointed as the Imam of the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most prestigious mosques in Morocco. His unique voice, emotional delivery, and mastery of Tajweed attracted thousands of worshippers and earned him the affectionate nickname “The Nightingale of the Minbar”.
In addition to leading prayers, he is also admired for his conferences, lectures, and speeches on Islamic knowledge. His recitations are broadcast on TV, radio, and online platforms, making him one of Morocco’s most beloved and respected reciters.
