Surah Yaseen Hadith

Hadith refers to the sayings, actions, and approvals of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Quran and Hadith are closely connected — while the Quran provides the core guidance, Hadith helps us understand and apply that guidance in daily life. It explains the teachings of the Quran with real-life examples from the life of the Prophet (PBUH), offering deeper meaning and practical steps to follow.

The word Yaseen is Muqatta’at in Arabic, referring to unique letters that appear at the beginning of certain chapters in the Quran. Surah Yaseen holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims. Several authentic Hadiths highlight its great rewards, blessings, and spiritual significance. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged believers to recite Surah Yaseen regularly, especially during times of need or difficulty. All these Hadiths have a reliable source and status, adding to the weight of their importance. Through these Hadiths, we learn how powerful this Surah is in bringing mercy, forgiveness, and peace to the reciter. Below are some important Hadiths about Surah Yaseen that explain its value and benefits.

Hadith 1 :

It was narrated that Anas (Radi Allahu Anhu) said: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Yaseen. Whoever recites Yaseen, Allah will record for him the reward of reading the Quran ten times.”

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ہر چیز کا ایک دل ہوتا ہے، اور قرآن کا دل سورۃ یاسین ہے۔ اور جس نے سورۃ یاسین پڑھی تو اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے لیے اس کے پڑھنے کے صلے میں دس مرتبہ قرآن شریف پڑھنے کا ثواب لکھے گا“۔

Status: Imam Tirmidhi himself commented on this hadith, saying, It is not Sahih due to issues in its chain of transmission.
Shaykh Al-Albani In his Book “Al-Da’eefah” (Hadith 169), Shaykh Al-Albani declared the hadith to be Mawdoo’ (fabricated).

Hadith 2 :

Narrated from Ma’qal Ibn Yassaar (Radi Allahu Anhu), who said: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Recite Surah Yaseen over your dead.”

حضرت معقل بن یسار رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے سورہٴ یٰسٓ کے بارے میں فرمایا :’’ اسے اپنے فوت ہونے والوں کے پاس پڑھا کرو’’ ۔

Status: Shaykh Al-Albani stated that there is no Sahih Hadith regarding reciting Surah Yaseen for someone who has passed away or turning their body to face the qiblah. This is mentioned in book Ahkaam Al-Janaa’iz (page. 11).

Hadith 3 :

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Yaseen. Anyone who reads it, Allah will write down for him (due to this one reading of his) ten readings of the (complete) Quran.”

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “ہر چیز کا دل ہوتا ہے اور قرآن کا دل یٰسین ہے۔ جو بھی اسے پڑھتا ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے لیے (اس کےایک دفعہ پڑھنے کی وجہ سے) دس مرتبہ پورے قرآن کی تلاوت کا ثواب لکھ دیتا ہے”۔

Status: The Hadith is considered both fabricated and weak.

Hadith 4 :

 Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) said: “Whoever recites Surah Ya Seen in the morning, there will be ease for him till evening. And whoever recites Surah Yaseen at night than there will be ease for him till morning.”

ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا :’’ جو صبح کے وقت سورۃ یسین پڑھے گا شام تک وہ دن آسانی سے گذرے گا جو رات کو اسے پڑھے گا صبح تک اس کی رات آسانی سے گذرے گی ’’۔

Status: Zubair Ali Zai declared the hadith as authentic in his research.
Hussain Saleem Asad graded the hadith as Hasan (a reliable but not at the highest level of authenticity).

Hadith 5 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Surely everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Yaseen. I would love that it be in the heart of every person of my people.”

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا “بے شک ہر چیز کا دل ہوتا ہے اور قرآن کا دل یٰسین ہے، میں پسند کروں گا کہ یہ میری امت کے ہر فرد کے دل میں ہو’’۔

Source: Abu Bakr Ahmad Ibn Amr Al-Bazzar in his tafsir “Sunan Al-Bazzar” Book. Muhammad Ali Al-Sabuni in his tafsir “Al-Sabuni” Book (Volume. 2). Muhammad Nasiruddin Al-Albani in “Al-Silsilah Al-Da’ifah” (Hadith 6572). In some narrations, Surah Al-Mulk is mentioned instead of Surah Yasin.
Status: The Hadith is daeef by Al-Albani.

Hadith 6 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever reads Surah Yaseen at the beginning of the day; his needs will be fulfilled.”

“رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے دن کے شروع میں سورہ یٰسین پڑھی۔ اس کی ضرورت پوری ہو جائے گی۔

Status: The Hadith has been graded daeef (weak).

Hadith 7 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever recited Surah Yaseen in the night seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah would forgive him.”

“رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جس نے رات کو اللہ کی رضا کے لیے سورۃ یٰسین کی تلاوت کی، اللہ تعالیٰ اسے بخش دے گا۔

Status: Judub Ibn Junadah’s Narration graded weak by Al-Bani in Da’if Al-Targhib wa Al-Tarheeb, (Hadith 973).
Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) Narration good chain of narrators according to Imam As-Suyuti in Al-Ali’ Al-Masnu‘uha, (Volume 1, page 235).
The same judgment is also supported by Ibn Kathir.

Hadith 8 :

Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Whoever recites Yaseen at night, he will be forgiven.”

“ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے رات کو یٰسین پڑھی، اس کی مغفرت کر دی جائے گی۔

Status: The hadith has been graded as weak.

Hadith 9 :

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu), which says that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Allah recited Ta-Ha and Ya-Seen one thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth. When the angels heard the Quran they said, ‘Glad tidings to the nation to whom this will be revealed, and glad tidings to the hearts that will bear this, and glad tidings to the tongues that will speak these words.’”

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ نے طٰہٰ اور یٰسین کو آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق سے ایک ہزار سال پہلے پڑھا، جب فرشتوں نے سنا۔ قرآن میں انہوں نے کہا، خوشخبری ہے اس قوم کے لیے جس پر یہ نازل کیا جائے گا، اور ان دلوں کے لیے خوشخبری ہے جو اس کو برداشت کریں گے، اور ان زبانوں کے لیے خوشخبری ہے جو یہ الفاظ بولیں گے’’۔

Status: Shaykh Al-Albani classified this hadith as munkar. Munkar is a category of daeef (weak) hadith. Often used to describe narrations with major flaws in the chain of transmission or content that contradicts more reliable reports.

Hadith 10 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever reads Surah Yaseen seeking Allah’s pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven. So recite it over the dying among you.”

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جس نے اللہ کی رضا کے لیے سورۃ یٰسین پڑھی، اس کے پچھلے گناہ معاف کر دیے جائیں گے۔ پس اسے اپنے درمیان مرنے والوں پر پڑھا کرو’’۔

Status: The Hadith has been graded as daeef (weak).

Hadith 11 :

Ma’qil Ibn Yasar (Radi Allahu Anhu) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,”Surah Yaseen is the heart of the Quran. No one reads it intending thereby Allah and the Next Abode except that Allah forgives them. Recite it for your deceased ones.”

معقل بن یسار رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ “رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: سورہ یٰسین قرآن کا دل ہے۔ کوئی بھی اسے اللہ اور آخرت کی نیت سے نہیں پڑھتا سوائے اس کے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ان کی مغفرت فرمائے۔اسے اپنے مرحومین کے لیے پڑھا کرو’’۔

Status: Imam Hakim considered this hadith to be authenticated (sahih).
Al-Albani reported the hadith as weak.

Hadith 12 :

Some versions state, “Whoever recites Surah Yaseen in the morning and night, he will be forgiven.”

“بعض روایات میں ہے” کہ جو شخص صبح و شام سورہ یٰسین کی تلاوت کرے گا اس کی بخشش ہو جائے گی۔

Status: The hadith has been graded as weak.

Hadith 13 :

Narrated from Anas Ibn Malik (Radi Allahu Anhu) who said that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever enters the graveyard and recites Surah Yaseen, (the torment) will be reduced for them that day, and he will have Hasanat equivalent to the number of people in the graveyard.”

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے” کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص قبرستان میں داخل ہو کر سورہ یٰسین کی تلاوت کرے گا تو اس دن اس کے عذاب میں تخفیف کر دی جائے گی، اور اسے قبرستان میں موجود لوگوں کی تعداد کے برابر حسنات ملیں گے’’۔

Status: This narration is mawdoo (fabricated).

Hadith 14 :

 The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whosoever reads the heart of the Quran “Yaseen” in Ramadan will receive the sawaab of reading 10 Qurans.”

“رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جو شخص رمضان المبارک میں قرآن کا دل یاسین پڑھے گا اسے دس قرآن پڑھنے کا ثواب ملے گا۔

Status: The hadith has been classified as weak.

Hadith 15 :

 It has been reported by Aishah (Radi Allahu Anha) that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “that there is a surah in the Quran that intercedes for its reciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yaseen. It is called ‘Mu’amma’ in the Torah. It was inquired, what is Mu’amma? The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘It embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter.‘”

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا “کہ قرآن مجید میں ایک سورت ہے جو اپنے پڑھنے والے کی شفاعت کرتی ہے اور سننے والے کو بخش دیتی ہے۔ جان لو! یہ سورہ یٰسین ہے۔ تورات میں اسے ’’معمۃ‘‘ کہا گیا ہے۔ دریافت کیا گیا کہ’’معمۃ‘‘ کیا چیز ہے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ یہ انسان کو دنیا کی بھلائیوں سے آمادہ کرتا ہے اور آخرت کی مایوسیوں کو دور کرتا ہے”۔

Shaykh Al-Albani in “Al-Silsilah Al-Da‘ifah” (Hadith 3260).
Status: The hadith is very weak due to the presence of Sulayman b. Mirqa‘ Al-Janda‘i, who is a weak narrator. This is confirmed by Shaykh Al-Albani.

Hadith 16 :

 The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever continues to read Surah Yaseen every night then dies, will die as a shaheed (martyr).”

“رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: “جو شخص ہر رات سورہ یٰسین پڑھتا رہے پھر اس کی موت واقع ہو جائے تو وہ شہید ہو کر مرے گا۔

Status: The hadith has been graded daeef.

Hadith 17 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever reads Surah Yaseen is forgiven; whoever reads it in hunger is satisfied; whoever reads it having lost their way, finds their way; whoever reads it on losing an animal, finds it. When one reads it apprehending that their food will run short, that food becomes sufficient. If one reads it beside a person who is in the throes of death, these are made easy for them. If anyone reads it on a woman experiencing difficulty in child-birth, her delivery becomes easy.”

نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا: “جو شخص سورۃ یٰسین پڑھے، اس کی مغفرت ہو جاتی ہے؛ جو شخص بھوک کے وقت اسے پڑھے، وہ سیر ہو جاتا ہے؛ جو شخص گم ہو جائے، وہ راہ پا لیتا ہے؛ جو شخص اپنے جانور کے گم ہونے پر اسے پڑھے، وہ جانور مل جاتا ہے۔ جب کوئی شخص اسے اس خیال سے پڑھے کہ اس کا کھانا ختم ہو جائے گا تو وہ کھانا کافی ہو جاتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی شخص اسے اس کے پاس پڑھے جو موت کی حالت میں ہو، تو اس کے لیے یہ آسان ہو جاتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی شخص اسی عورت کے پاس پڑھے جو بچے کی پیدائش کی تکلیف میں ہو، تو اس کی پیدائش آسان ہو جاتی ہے”۔

Status: The Hadith is daeef (weak).

Hadith 18 :

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Whoever reads Surah Yaseen on the evening of Friday will be forgiven in the morning.”

“نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا: “جو شخص جمعہ کی رات سورۃ یٰسین پڑھے، اس کی صبح مغفرت ہو جائے گی۔

Status: Imam Bayhaqi reported this narration, but it has a weak chain of transmission.
