Abdul Aziz Al Karaani was a respected Quran reciter and imam from Morocco, admired for his soulful and melodious recitation style. He specialized in the Warsh A’n Nafi’ recitation, a style widely practiced across North Africa, including Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. His calm and spiritual voice allowed listeners to connect with the Quran in a heartfelt way.

He began his Quranic journey at the young age of five under the guidance of his uncle and memorized the entire Quran during childhood. Throughout his career, he served as an imam in several mosques, including Al-Tawba Mosque for five years, Al-Taysir Mosque for three years, and Al-Salam Mosque during Ramadan between 2003 and 2006. His final position was at Cadi Ayyad Mosque in Casablanca, where he continued to lead prayers until his passing.

In addition to his role as an imam, he also worked as a teacher at a private school, sharing both knowledge and values with his students. He passed away on May 31, 2025, after a long illness, and his death was deeply mourned by the Muslim community in Casablanca and beyond.

Abdul Aziz Al Karaani is remembered as one of Morocco’s admired Quran reciters, often mentioned alongside names such as Omar Al Kazabri, Laayoun El Kouchi, Abdel Hamid Hssain, Abdul Kabir AL Hadidi, Abdel Moujib Benkirane, khalil AL Saghir, Hafez Ishak Danish, Khalid AL Mohanna, and Hisham Al-Haraz. Together, their voices form a living legacy of Qur’anic recitation across the Muslim world.
