Abdul Bari Ath Thobaity is a respected Quran reciter and Islamic scholar from Makkah, Saudi Arabia, born in 1960 (1380 Hijri). He is widely known for his beautiful and powerful voice. He memorized the Quran at an early age and began leading prayers as a child. By the age of 9, he was already acting as an imam while continuing his studies. At 19, he won first place in an international Quran competition held in Makkah, which gained him recognition across the Muslim world.

He earned a degree in Science from King Abdul Aziz University in 1405 Hijri. He later pursued higher education in Shari’ah (Islamic Law) at Umm Al-Qura University, where he completed his Master’s degree in 1415 Hijri.

He served as a Quran teacher and memorization supervisor from a young age and also led prayers in the UK during Ramadan in 1397 Hijri as part of a Dawah mission. Over the years, he held several important positions, including being imam of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and later imam of the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) in Madinah, where he has served since 1994 (1414 Hijri).

Despite facing a serious vocal cord illness that paused his recitation for about four years, he recovered and returned to lead prayers again at the Prophet’s Mosque. His resilience and dedication have earned him deep respect throughout the Muslim world.
