Ahmad Taleb Hameed, born 1981 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a respected Quran reciter, scholar, and one of the youngest Imams to lead prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Al-Nabawi) in Madinah. He comes from a family deeply rooted in Islamic tradition, as his maternal grandfather, Sheikh Abdul Majeed Al-Jabarti, also served as an Imam and Khateeb at the Prophet’s Mosque and worked as a judge in Madinah.

From an early age, he memorized the Quran and received ijazah in Quranic recitation. He later pursued higher education at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia, a Master’s in Comparative Jurisprudence, and later a PhD in Islamic studies. His academic achievements built a strong foundation for both his scholarship and imamate.

In 2005 (1426 AH), his dedication to Islamic service was recognized when he received the honor of “Islamic Personality of the Year” at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award. Later, in 2013 (1434 AH), he was appointed as an Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi, where he led Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers during Ramadan, inspiring millions of worshippers with his clear and soulful recitation.

Alongside his imamate, he has also worked in academia as the Chairman of Principles of Jurisprudence and Sharia at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University. He continues to contribute to Islamic education and serves as the general supervisor of a charitable society in Makkah.

Ahmad Taleb Hameed is mentioned among notable voices in Quranic recitation, alongside Adil Al Kalbani, Salah Albudair, Abdul Muhsin Al-Qasim, Abdul Bari Ath Thobaity, Adel Rayane, Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, Muhammad Siddiq AL-Minshawi, Ahmed Ibn Ali Al-Ajmy, and Nabil Al Rifay have also contributed to the rich tradition of Qur’anic recitation, touching hearts with their voices.

In 2025, his name was removed from the official list of Imams of Masjid Al-Nabawi, though no detailed public explanation was provided. Despite this, he remains widely admired for his scholarship, humility, and powerful recitation, continuing to inspire Muslims worldwide.
