Dr. Ahmad Issa Al-Masarawi is a world-renowned Egyptian Quran reciter and scholar, respected for his deep knowledge of the Quran and mastery of the ten Qira’at. Born on March 1, 1953, in Dindit, Egypt, he memorized the entire Quran by the age of 11 under the guidance of Sheikh Abdul Hamid Hajjaj.
He studied at Al-Azhar University, where he earned degrees in Qira’at and Hadith, completing his PhD in Hadith in 1992. He began his career as a teacher at Al-Azhar Institute in 1976 and later became a professor at Al-Azhar University. He has also served as the Grand Sheikh of Quraa in Egypt and the President of the Board responsible for approving printed and audio copies of the Quran.
He holds Sanad and Ijazah in the ten Qira’at, both the minor and major readings, through Shaatibiyyah, Durrah, and Tayyibah. Among his well-known teachers are Sheikh Abdul Hakim Abdul Lateef and Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Hamid Abdullah.
Currently, he lives in Qatar, where he leads several Quranic academies and works as a visiting professor at international universities. He also serves as an advisor for Quranic education and is frequently invited as a head judge in international Quran recitation competitions.
