Surah Yaseen mp3 by Dawood Hamza
Dawood Ayad Hamza is a renowned Libyan Quran reciter, admired for his heartfelt voice and deep mastery of Tajweed. Born on November 1, 1968, in Tripoli, Libya, he entered the world of Quranic recitation by coincidence, yet his natural talent and devotion transformed him into one of the country’s most respected Quran readers.
His journey began at the age of ten when his father gifted him a recording of the legendary reciter Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad as a reward for his success in school. Deeply moved by Abdul Basit’s magnificent voice, young Dawood tried to imitate him, an effort that sparked a lifelong passion for learning the art of Tajweed. Determined to perfect his recitation, he joined a local Quranic school, where he became acquainted with renowned reciters such as Muhammad Siddiq AL-Minshawi. His teachers quickly recognized his exceptional ability and encouraged him to memorize the Holy Quran. By the age of twenty, he had successfully memorized the entire Quran and mastered the rules of Tajweed.
At just twenty-two years old, he began teaching the Quran to students in Libya, many of whom later became accomplished reciters themselves. His reputation continued to grow, and he became one of Libya’s most admired voices in Quranic recitation. His excellence led him to serve as an Imam for Taraweeh prayers in Canada for more than ten years, where he inspired communities with his emotional and melodious recitations.
Throughout his career, he has represented Libya in numerous international Quranic forums and competitions, earning recognition in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, South Africa, Czechoslovakia, and Algeria. His global efforts reflect his dedication to promoting Quranic learning and spreading awareness of Tajweed worldwide.
