Dr. Ayman Rochdi Swed is a respected Quran reciter and Islamic scholar originally from Syria, born in 1955. He is well-known for his precise and heartfelt Quran recitation, as well as his dedication to teaching the correct methods of recitation (Tajweed) worldwide. From an early age, He was drawn to the Quran, growing up in a religious environment that nurtured his passion for Islamic studies. After completing high school in Damascus, he moved to Egypt to pursue advanced Quranic education. There, he earned High Readings certification from the Institute of Readings in Cairo in 1981 and a bachelor’s degree in Arabic from Al-Azhar University in 1982. His journey continued in Saudi Arabia, where he obtained a Master’s degree from Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah in 1990, followed by two Ph.D. degrees — one from Umm Al-Qura in 1998 and another from Al-Azhar University in 1999. He studied under some of the most well-known scholars and reciters, including Shaykh Muhi-Eddin Alkurdi, Shaykh Amer Othman, and Shaykh Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al-Zayat, gaining expertise in various Qira’at (recitation styles). He holds eight certifications in Quranic recitation, showcasing his deep knowledge and mastery of the subject. In addition to his academic achievements, He has held several prestigious positions. He served as a consultant with the International Body of Quran Teaching under the Association of the Muslim World, and worked closely with the Charity Association of Quran Teaching in Jeddah. He has also supervised Quranic education programs in various mosques and organized advanced training sessions for aspiring Quran teachers. Today, He resides in Saudi Arabia and is widely known for hosting the popular TV program “Mastering Quran Recitation” on Iqraa Channel, where he continues to guide Muslims on proper Tajweed and pronunciation.
