Fares Abbad (full name: Fares Abd Rabbuh Mohammed Abbad) is a well-known Qur’an reciter and imam from Sanaa, Yemen, where he was born on April 12, 1980. From a very young age, he showed a deep love for the Holy Qur’an. He memorized it in his childhood while studying under respected teachers in Sanaa, especially Sheikh Fadl Morad, who played a key role in refining his recitation skills. He was inspired by legendary reciters like Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad and Muhammad al-Mehysni, and over time, he developed his own style that is soft, emotional, and spiritually uplifting.
He began his journey as an imam in 1994, leading Tarawih prayers at Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque in Yemen, where he continued for seven years. Later, he served as an imam at Sheikh Abdel Razek Afifi Mosque in Riyadh (2004) and at Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (2006–2008). Eventually, he moved to Ajman, United Arab Emirates, where he still resides and continues his work. Beyond his recitation, he is also a devoted family man, blessed with three boys and one girl.
He gained international fame through his audio recordings, especially his complete recitation of the Qur’an in 2003, published by Qadisiya Records. His soulful voice also brought life to well-known works such as Nounia Al Qahtani (an 800-verse poem), Introduction of Ibn Al Qayyim (Description of Paradise), The Day Two Sides Reminders, The Possession Spell, and The Magic Spell. He is also working on a new project titled Fortress of the Muslim with a modern approach.
Today, his recitations are regularly broadcast on Almajd TV Channel, where he is considered one of the most beloved Qur’an reciters. Alongside Sheikh Fares Abbad, many respected reciters continue to inspire listeners worldwide, including Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, Ilhan Tok, Muhammad Al-Aalim Al-Dokali, Abdullah Fahmi, Mohammad Nezar Marwan, Mohamed Al Jabery Al Heyani, Turki Al Rumaih, Hatem Fareed Alwaer, and Abdullah Al-Johany, each known for their unique style and contribution to Qur’an recitation.
Despite his international recognition, he remains humble, dedicating his life to spreading the beauty of the Qur’an through his voice. His calming and emotional style of recitation is admired not only in the Arab world but also by Muslims across the globe.
