Hani Ar Rifai, born in 1974 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a renowned Quran reciter known for his heartfelt and spiritually moving voice. He grew up in a conservative family that placed great importance on learning the Quran. By the age of 12, he had memorized the entire Quran, which laid the foundation for his scholarly and spiritual journey.
He studied Islamic Studies at King Abdulaziz University and learned under respected scholars such as Sheikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah, Sheikh Khaldoun Al-Ahdab, and Sheikh Abdullah Ali Jabir. He also benefited from the guidance of other great teachers, including Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdu Rahim Achichin and Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf.
He later became the Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Anani in Jeddah, where his recitations continue to inspire worshippers. Because of his exceptional talent, he was chosen as a special Quran reciter for the Royal Court by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information. He was also honored to serve as the personal reciter of King Fahd Ibn Abdulaziz Al-Saud from 1998 until the King’s death.
From 1998 to 2002, he worked as a teacher of Islamic Studies in public schools in Saudi Arabia. Later, he was appointed as the Director of Legal Affairs at King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah. Alongside these responsibilities, he also participated in many Islamic programs, delivering recitations and offering community guidance.
His recitations have been broadcast on well-known Islamic channels such as Iqra, Almajd, Ashariqa, and Alfaj, reaching millions worldwide. In addition to his recitations, he has written and published works, including Healing the Sick with the Holy Quran, further contributing to Islamic knowledge.
He is married and blessed with five children, two sons and three daughters. Despite his many roles and responsibilities, he continues to serve as the Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Anani in Jeddah. His mastery of Tajweed, combined with a uniquely heartfelt delivery, makes his recitation a source of comfort and spiritual strength for Muslims around the world. He is often mentioned alongside other admired reciters such as Bassel Abdul Rahman Raoui, Yasser Al-Dosari, Ibrahim Al-Dossari, Ahmad Taleb Hameed, Abdullah Matrood, Hamza Algerian, Abu Abdullah Munir Al Tounsi, Abdullah Al-Johany, Muhammad Abdul Salam Abu Sneina, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais and Yahya Hawwa, each contributing their own voice and style to the recitation of the Holy Quran.
