Jazza Alswaileh (full name: Jazza Bin Falih Al-Swaileh), born in 1969 in Kuwait, is one of the most respected Quran reciters in the Islamic world and a leading figure in Quranic recitation in his home country. Known for his deep understanding of Tilawat and Tajweed, he is admired for a recitation style that combines clarity, precision, and spiritual depth. His voice carries calmness and devotion, touching the hearts of listeners across the world.
He began his journey with the Holy Quran at a young age. By the age of thirteen, he had memorized the entire Quran despite the absence of organized memorization centers in Kuwait at that time. Guided by his parents’ encouragement and his own determination, he devoted himself to mastering Quranic recitation and teaching. Over the years, he received Ijazah (certificates of Quranic authentication) from some of the greatest Quran scholars of the modern era, including Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zayat, Sheikh Abdullatif from Al-Azhar, and Sheikha Oum Saad from Alexandria. These certifications stand as recognition of his mastery in the sciences of Tilawat and Tajweed.
He completed his Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Shari’a and Islamic Studies at the University of Kuwait, where he also began teaching the Holy Quran in the Department of Hadith. His passion for spreading Quranic knowledge led him to devote more than two decades to teaching the Quran and its recitation in mosques, Quranic schools, and academic institutions. Throughout his career, numerous male and female scholars have graduated under his guidance, continuing his legacy of dedication to Quranic education.
He served as a volunteer Imam at the Habib Al Banay Mosque under the Ministry of Awqaf in Kuwait. He also worked as a teacher of the Quran and Tajweed for twelve years at the University of Kuwait and has been a certified Quran reciter on official Quran radio channels in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In addition, he has supervised Quran schools within the Faculty of Shari’a, organized Tajweed courses across Kuwait, and conducted international sessions in both Arab and European countries.
Beyond his academic and religious work, he has played an important role in Quranic media and broadcasting. He has hosted several Quran-related programs, including the popular television show “And Recite the Quran” aired on Al Arabiya Channel. His complete Quran recordings in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration are widely available online. He has also participated as a jury member in international Quran competitions and delivered notable lectures, such as “How I Learned the Tajweed” during the Third Quranic Congress.
Jazza Alswaileh stands among a distinguished generation of Qur’an reciters who have elevated the art of Tilawah with sincerity and devotion. Alongside him, respected reciters such as Mohammed Al Naqeeb, Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Yasser Al Mazroyee, Ahmad Al Nufais, Fahd al Kundury, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, AL Fateh Muhammad Zubair, and Yaseer Al Zailaie have also enriched the world of Qur’anic recitation through their unique voices and spiritual depth.
