Mahmood Al Rifai, whose full name is Mahmood Sayed Ali Al Rifai, is a well-known Kuwaiti Quran reciter and one of the respected names in contemporary Quranic learning. Born in Kuwait, he developed a strong connection with the Holy Quran from a young age and went on to study under some of the most distinguished teachers in the field of Tajweed and Qira’at.

Under the guidance of Sheikh Abdul Rafia Ridwan Al Sharkawi and Sheikh Mohammed Abou Rawash, he received certifications in the Hafs ‘an Asim recitation method through both Al Shatibiyyah and Al Tayba. These certifications reflect his mastery of proper recitation rules, precision in articulation, and deep commitment to classical Quranic scholarship. He is also continuing his advanced studies in the Seven Qira’at, further expanding his expertise in multiple canonical recitations.

His dedication and excellence were recognized when he won first place in the 10th Kuwaiti Grand Competition for Quran Memorization and Recitation, held at the Grand Mosque under the patronage of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al-Jabber Al-Sabah. This major achievement highlighted his exceptional skill and strengthened his reputation as one of Kuwait’s most respected Quran reciters.

Mahmood Al Rifai has become a familiar and comforting voice for many listeners, and his recitations place him among today’s leading Qur’an reciters.
