His dedication to proper recitation led him to travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He is the Imam of the Grand Mosque in Kuwait and runs his own TV channel, Al-Afasy, which broadcasts his recitations and educational programs. He is also known for his nasheed albums, starting his career in 2003. He has won numerous awards, including from the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League.
