Muhammad Jibreel (full name: Muhammad-Muhammad Al Said Hassanein Jibreel) is one of the most famous Quran reciters in the Islamic world. He was born in Tahoria village, Al Qalyubia Governorate, Egypt, in 1968. From a young age, he showed exceptional talent and dedication to the Quran. He memorized the entire Quran by the age of 9 and led prayers in a major mosque in Banha by the age of 12.
He studied at Al-Azhar University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia and Law. He also spent time in Jordan, where he worked as a lecturer and contributed to various religious TV and radio programs. He was known for frequently traveling between Jordan and Egypt during his studies to balance work and exams.
In 1988, he was appointed as the Imam of the famous Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque in Cairo. His recitation, especially during Tarawih prayers in Ramadan, would attract thousands of worshippers. The crowds were so large that people would pray in the streets surrounding the mosque. He is especially well-known for his emotional and powerful Dua al-Qunoot, which has touched the hearts of millions of listeners around the world.
He has also won first place in several international Quran recitation competitions and has appeared in many TV programs in Egypt, such as Verses and Prayers and Allah’s Loved Ones. He was also chosen to supervise the International Islamic Center for Quranic Sciences in Cairo. In 2015, he was reportedly removed from his position as Imam at Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque due to political reasons.
