Muhammad Al-Aalim Al-Dokali is a renowned Libyan Quran reciter, scholar, and Imam, widely respected for his beautiful voice and lifelong dedication to Islamic education. He was born in 1949 in the village of Awlad Al-Aalim, Libya, and grew up in a family deeply rooted in Islamic learning. From a young age, he showed a great passion for the Holy Quran and pursued religious studies under his father’s guidance.
He received his early education at the Al-Asmari Institute in Zliten, one of Libya’s oldest centers of Quranic learning. He later specialized in Islamic Studies at the Institute of Malik Ibn Anas in Tripoli, where he further deepened his knowledge of Sharia and Quranic sciences. In 1978, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sharia and Law from the Islamic University in Bayda, establishing a strong foundation for his scholarly and religious career.
Throughout his life, he held several important positions in both religious and academic fields. He served as a Khateeb at the Mosque of Balmain in Tripoli and later as an Imam and Quran teacher at the Faculty of Daawa Al-Islamiya, where he taught and inspired many students. His deep understanding of the Quran and mastery of the Qalun recitation style, widely practiced in Libya, made his recitations a source of guidance and tranquility for many.
In recognition of his knowledge and service, he was appointed as the General Director of Legal Affairs at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments in 1998. He also represented Libya internationally, serving as a jury member in Quran recitation competitions in countries such as Malaysia, Iran, Egypt, and Morocco. Beyond his official roles, his Tarawih prayers and Quran recitations have been broadcast on Libyan television and are available worldwide on platforms like YouTube.
