Surah Yaseen mp3 by Muhammad Anwar Shahat

Muhammad Anwar Shahat was a legendary Egyptian Quran reciter, admired for his powerful, emotional, and melodious voice. He was born in July 1950 in the village of Kafr Al-Wazir, Egypt. From an early age, he showed a deep love for the Holy Quran, a journey that began under the guidance of his uncle, Sheikh Hilmi Muhammad Mustapha, who helped him memorize the entire Quran by the age of eight.

After completing his memorization, he pursued the study of Tajweed (the rules of Quranic recitation) in the village of Kafr Al-Miqdam under Sheikh Ali Sayed Ahmad. His teachers quickly recognized his exceptional voice and predicted a bright future for him among Egypt’s top Quran reciters. Inspired by great masters like Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Sheikh Mustafa Ismail, and Sheikh Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawi, he refined his tone and technique, developing a unique recitation style that touched the hearts of millions.

His journey was not without challenges. He lost his father when he was just three months old and took on responsibilities at a young age to support his family. Despite the hardships, his determination and love for the Quran guided him toward excellence. By his twenties, his reputation had spread widely across Egyptian governorates, and his recordings became popular through radio broadcasts and audio cassettes in the 1970s. His recordings continue to guide and inspire listeners globally, and many reciters, including Sheikh Nasser Al Zayat, have been influenced by his distinctive style and spiritual depth.

In 1976, he applied to join the Egyptian Quran Radio Station, but was initially rejected due to his lack of formal training in musical intonation. Determined to improve, he enrolled in the Private Institute of Music, where he studied for two years. His hard work paid off when he became an officially certified Quran reciter for the national radio in 1979.

Throughout his career, he recited in major mosques, including Imam Rafi’i Mosque, and participated in numerous religious ceremonies and international Quranic events. His emotional delivery and deep spiritual tone made him one of the most beloved voices of his generation. His son, Mahmoud Shahat Muhammad Anwar, later followed in his footsteps, continuing his father’s legacy as a celebrated Quran reciter.

Muhammad Anwar Shahat belongs to a remarkable generation of Egyptian reciters whose voices continue to inspire Muslims worldwide. Among them are Abdul Bari Mohammed, Mohammad AL-Tablawi, Tareq Mohammad, Muhammad Hassan, Yaseer Al Zailaie, and Tawfik As Sayegh, each adding their unique beauty and emotion to Quranic recitation.

He passed away in 2008 at the age of 58, leaving behind a timeless legacy in the world of Quranic recitation that continues to inspire Muslims across the globe. Here, you can listen to his Surah Yaseen recitation online or download the MP3 file for easy access.
