Muhammad Ayyub was a famous Quran reciter and respected imam, born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in 1952 (1372 AH). He grew up in a household filled with the sound of the Holy Quran, which inspired him to memorize the Quran at a young age. He completed his Quran memorization at the Bin Laden Mosque, where he graduated in 1966. He later moved to Madinah and earned a degree from the Scientific Institute of Madinah in 1972. His Islamic education continued at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. by 1987.
Muhammad Ayyub studied under respected Saudi scholars, including Shaykh Abdul Aziz Muhammad Othman, Tantawi, and Al-Shanqiti, gaining deep knowledge in Quranic sciences and Tajweed.
Throughout his life, he served in many honorable roles. He was a faculty member at the Islamic University, a member of the King Fahd Educational Board, and a part of the Scientific Committee responsible for the printing of the Holy Quran. As an imam, he led prayers in many prominent Masjids, including Al-Anabiya, Quba, Abdallah Al-Hussayni and most notably, Masjid An-Nabawi (the Prophet’s Mosque) in Madinah.
His soulful and powerful recitation style earned him admiration from listeners around the world. His recordings continue to be widely loved and listened to today. Many other talented reciters are also appreciated for their unique and heartfelt styles, such as Ibrahim Al Thuwaini, Nima Al-Hassan, Ahmed Al Habib, Mohammad Bin Ibraheem Al Luhaidan, Nasser Al Qatami, Abdul Hadi Kanakri, Muhammad Hassan, Salah Al-Jamal and Hassan Al-Wajdi.
