Saud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad Al-Shuraim, commonly known as Saud Al-Shuraim, is one of the most respected Quran reciters and Islamic scholars of this era. He was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in January 1966, and is widely recognized for his powerful yet calm recitation style, which has touched the hearts of millions around the world. His voice reflects humility, precision in Tajweed, and deep understanding of Quranic meanings.
He completed his early education in Riyadh and later graduated from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, where he studied under esteemed scholars such as Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz, Abdullah Al-Jabreen, Abdullah bin Okail, and Abdurrahman Al-Barrak. He continued his academic journey and earned a Master’s degree in Comparative Jurisprudence, followed by a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence from Umm Al-Qura University. His academic excellence eventually led him to teach at Umm Al-Qura, where he served as a professor and later became Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sharia.
In 1991, he was appointed by royal decree as Imam and Khatib of Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, one of the greatest honors in the Islamic world. In 1992, he was also appointed as a judge in the High Court of Saudi Arabia, reflecting the trust and respect he held for his scholarly knowledge and judicial capabilities. For decades, he led the Tarawih and Jumu’ah prayers at the Grand Mosque, especially during Ramadan and Hajj, and his recitations became a source of spiritual comfort for worshippers across the globe.
After 32 years of service at Masjid Al-Haram, he stepped down from his role as Imam on October 8, 2022, with his final prayer being the Maghrib prayer. His departure marked the end of an era, but his legacy continues to inspire Muslims worldwide.
In addition to his recitation, he has authored numerous works on Islamic law, Fiqh, and Quranic sciences, guiding both scholars and students in their study of essential religious principles. His lessons and Qur’anic reflections have encouraged sincerity in worship and strengthened devotion to divine guidance.
Saud Al-Shuraim’s heartfelt recitation and mastery of Tajweed have established him as one of the leading voices in Quranic recitation.
