Tawfik As Sayegh is a well-known Quran reciter, born in 1974 in Asmara, Eritrea. He moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at a young age where he memorized the Quran and received his early education. His powerful recitation style and strong command of Tajweed have made him a respected figure in the world of Quran recitation.

He studied at the Scientific Institute of Jeddah, then went on to earn a master’s degree in Islamic studies from Imam Mohammad Bin Saud University and a PhD from Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah. Throughout his learning journey, he was mentored by several respected scholars in fields like Fiqh and Quranic sciences.

He began leading prayers and giving khutbahs (Friday sermons) in 1992, serving as an imam in several mosques across Jeddah, including the well-known Lami Mosque. His unique voice and deep emotional tone in Quran recitation touched listeners around the world. He also served as president of the Eritrean community in Saudi Arabia and played a major role in Quran competitions, such as the Faleh Al-Thani Quran Prize in Doha. However, due to unknown political reasons, he was deported from Saudi Arabia and moved to Bahrain, where he currently lives and continues his work. In Bahrain, he became an imam and was granted Bahraini nationality. He also founded the Al-Hudah Publishing House, which released the full Quran recorded in his voice.

Tawfik As Sayegh is among many respected Quran reciters admired for their distinctive styles. Other notable names include Ahmed El Shafei, Lafi Al Oni, Muhammad Hassan, Imad Zuhair Hafeez, Ahmed Issa Al-Masrawi, Khaleel Al Ansi, Khaalid Ar Rumayh, Anas Al Emadi, Muhammad Al Kantawi, and Afif Taj, each of whom has made a unique contribution to the world of Quranic recitation.
