Waleed Al-Shamsan is a well-known Quran reciter from Saudi Arabia, admired for his calm, clear, and soothing recitation style. He recites mainly in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration, one of the most popular methods of Quran recitation across the Muslim world. His voice brings peace and reflection to listeners, making his recitations deeply spiritual and uplifting.

Born and educated in Saudi Arabia, he graduated from the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud, where he later became a professor at the Faculty of Islamic Law. In 2017, he earned his doctorate from the Islamic University of Madinah with his research on “Al-Hawashi Al-Mufida fi Sharh Al-Qasida” by Ibn Al-Daqouqi. As an academic, he has supervised many research projects and participated in several national and international conferences on Islamic law.

Before his appointment as an Imam of the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, he served as the Imam and Khatib of Quba Mosque in Madinah, the first mosque in Islam. In 2024, he led the Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers in the Grand Mosque for the first time during Ramadan, alongside Sheikh Badr Bin Mohammad Al-Turki. Later that year, he was officially appointed as one of the Imams of Masjid al-Haram by royal decree, marking a major milestone in his spiritual and academic journey.

As a reciter, he has released over 60 albums of Quranic recitations, covering many chapters of the Holy Quran. His recordings are loved for their clarity, emotional depth, and spiritual calmness. They are widely available across digital platforms such as YouTube and other Quranic archives.

Alongside Waleed Al Shamsan, other notable Qur’an reciters including Nasser Al Qatami, Abdullah Khayat, Khalid Al-Qahtani, Ali Abdur-Rahman AL-Huthaify, Salem Al Ruwaili, Abdul Basit ‘Abd us-Samad, Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Abdul Kabir AL Hadidi, and Muhammad Sulaiman Patel have greatly contributed to the art of Quranic recitation in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
